New Zealand Air Travel

May 26th, 2008

New Zealand’s national carrier is Air New Zealand and is the main way of travelling by air throughout New Zealand. New Zealand’s next major carrier is Qantas, the Australian national carrier.
There are other main players in the competitive trans-Tasman market (the market between New Zealand and Australia that crosses the Tasman Sea) they include Jetstar, Virgin Pacific, Freedom and Emirates.

Virgin, Jetstar and Freedom are the budget airlines. Jetstar is a company that is owned mainly by Qantas and Freedom is mainly owned by Air New Zealand. These three airlines are the airlines you would concentrate your search for cheap New Zealand to Australia airfares, but sometimes the major players offer better deals so don’t think that because they are budget they are the cheapest. These airlines keep the prices competitive so you as the traveller will get some great deals if you “shop around”.

New Zealand also has many small airlines to enable you to see some of the wonders of New Zealand including Origin Pacific and other scenic flight airlines from the smaller towns and cities.
Safety standards in airports and on airlines that travel the New Zealand skies are among the highest in the world, with strict air safety regulations. When you arrive in New Zealand there are strict rules and instant fines for bringing undeclared food items or anything that could effect the delicate New Zealand environment and bio-security of the country.

Most airlines leaving from New Zealand airports are also not as strict with the check in times as other countries with higher international safety concerns.
Have fun flying the New Zealand skies. You will enjoy the friendliness of New Zealand airline staff and the service that you will receive.

Aloha Airlines Emerges From Bankruptcy

14 months after filing for bankruptcy protection, Aloha Airlines has emerged from bankruptcy with less routes and across the board pay cuts in place.

Thanks to a nearly $100 million debt and equity financing package, Aloha Airlines has emerged leaner, if not a bit wiser as it prepares to take on existing and new competition.

In addition to competing against long time rivals Hawaiian Airlines, Island Air, Aloha will soon be facing stiff competition from a Mesa Air Group airline, Go Hawaii.

Ryanair Accused in T.V. Documentary

Ryanair, Ireland’s discount air carrier, was the subject of a recent TV documentary highly critical of some of its practices.

The recently broadcast show alleged that Ryanair was slack in checking passports, had dirty aircraft, and overworked their crew to the point of exhaustion.

Two reporters spend five months screening the airline’s training program and flights for an Irish television network. Posing as cabin crewmembers, the reporters were able to gain an inside advantage to the workings of Ryanair.

Ryanair has also been accused in the past of selling bottled water in-flight for about $6 per bottle. It has been alleged that passengers were served tap water, not pricey name brand liquid.

OZ Carrier Bans Porn Tattoo Mum

Peta Bull, yes that is here name, was embarrassed and offended after Jetstar Airways cabin crewmembers forced her to wear a jacket to cover up a controversial tattoo.

The Australian mother of two, onboard a January 26th Queensland flight, was instructed by cabin crewmembers to cover up a provocative tattoo depicting a naked couple engaging in sex.

“I was embarrassed and belittled,” she said. “I can’t believe they singled me out.”

No word yet if Ms. Bull is planning on taking legal action against the carrier.
